Globe Valve / Angle Globe Valve

Globe valves are generally characterised by their spherical body with the two halves of the body being separated by an internal baffle. This has an opening that forms a seat onto which the disc, connected to a stem, can be screwed in (if operated manually) or slid in (if automated) to close the valve.

Pressure & Safety Relief Valve

Product-Img
Product-Img

A pressure relief valve serves as a safety mechanism to guard pressurised equipment and systems during overpressure situations or vacuum conditions. Its main function is to release excess fluid from a system that’s under too much pressure, thereby protecting both life and property. Additionally, vacuum relief valves prevent the creation of a vacuum within the system by permitting air to enter, ensuring stable operational conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions about Globe Valves & Gate Valves

Globe valves are frequently used in the marine industry in Singapore and around the world. They are utilised for shutting off and regulating bi-directional fluid flow, especially in applications with strict shutdown criteria. Specialised angle type globe valves are also occasionally used for throttling and isolating purposes due to their pressure drop capabilities.

A globe valve is a form of control valve used to start, stop, and control the flow through a pipe. On the inside, a plug-like disc rests on the end of a spinning stem that is threaded and has a spherical exterior. This stem raises and lowers to regulate media flow. Meanwhile, gate valves are linear motion valves that are exclusively used to begin or stop the flow of media through a pipe. Since they are not suitable for throttling, they are regarded as shutdown valves as opposed to control valves. Unlike globe valves, gate valves also have a flat or wedge-shaped disc at the end of a threaded stem that is raised and lowered to operate the valve by turning a wheel.

The primary difference between a globe valve and an angle globe valve lies in their design and flow direction. A standard globe valve features a linear flow path, meaning the fluid enters and exits the valve in a straight line. This design is excellent for regulating flow but can cause a pressure drop. On the other hand, an angle globe valve has a 90-degree turn in its body, allowing fluid to change direction within the valve. This design can be more efficient in certain systems where a change in flow direction is needed and is often used in applications requiring both throttling and redirection of flow.
